This report uses thematic mapping and statistical data collected from the 2001 Census to examine the growth and socio-demographic characteristics of the city of Burlington. Factors such as size, age distribution, marital status, family structure, living arrangement, education attainment, workforce activities, incomes, ethnic origins, and place of birth are examined in this report. Furthermore, this report documents changes and emerging trends that have the potential to reshape Burlington. A better understanding of “ourselves” provides vital information for residents, community groups, human services, businesses as well as government in order to understand change and for the decision making process in the provision of services to residents.
