Halton Volunteer Centre Establishes Online Presence
Volunteer Opportunities Now Online
April 22, 1999 – On April 22, 1999, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00, at the office of the Volunteer Centre, 860 Harrington Court, Burlington, Ontario, a new and exciting Internet volunteer concept, will be previewed and demonstrated during the Burlington Volunteer Week Reception. Dignitaries from various levels of government will be in attendance.
This volunteer opportunity entitled “Volunteerism Through Technology“, has been developed by the Halton Social Planning Council and Volunteer Centre in partnership with HALINET (Halton Information Network). It is an Internet interactive database of volunteer opportunities. The database is accessible through multiple community access points such as public libraries, through your own Internet connection and is integrated with other existing community information databases. The address of the volunteer database is www.haltonvolunteer.org.
“Volunteerism Through Technology” was financed as a pilot project of Volunteer @ction Online, an initiative of the Government of Ontario, Ministry of Culture, Citizenship and Recreation.
