This report examines the economic contribution and the human resource base of the nonprofit human service sector in Halton. It examines some of the current and ongoing challenges faced by this sector and profiles the vital role this sector plays in the community. It explores issues such as gender equity, competitive and stable salaries, an under-represented young worker and culturally diverse work force, an underdeveloped methodology for organizing volunteers and the threat of consolidation into larger agencies as some critical issues faced by this sector.
