North BurLINKton Community Group, with the help of Community Development Halton, is pleased to announce that they have been funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Youth Opportunity Fund a grant of $181,700 over 30 months. The North BurLINKton Leadership Team has a desire to see multiple community spaces that are inviting and inclusive for youth from all walks of life in the north Burlington area. Bill Shackleton Place, Van Norman Homes, has partnered with North BurLINKton providing them with a monthly space to get together with other youth from the north Burlington community. This space will provide youth with a safe place to meet, and to be themselves.
Bill Shackleton Place is just one space that the North BurLINKton Community Group has secured. They also plan on gaining two more spaces across north Burlington for teens to have a safe, welcoming, and free space to drop-in. Over the next year and a half our team will be working hard to secure these spaces by listening to the needs of youth in the community. We want to know where the spaces are needed, and we can do this by asking other teens. The money received from the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Youth Opportunity Fund will help to secure these spaces, and to offer free events and training opportunities for young people in the north Burlington community.
