Offer the support and comfort needed during one of life’s most difficult experiences, the loss of a loved one. Assists in normalizing people’s experiences of grief and loss, and provides an opportunity for the bereaved person to talk about their loss and share their story in a safe, non-judgemental place.
Left unreconciled, grief can significantly impact a person mentally, physically, emotionally, cognitively and spiritually, with symptoms that can include: depression, anxiety, lack of appetite, inability to sleep, among others.
After training, the Bereavement Coordinator will match you with a client to visit for 1-2 hours a week for a period of 3 to 12 months (depending on the client’s needs), making all the difference in their journey through grief. Meetings can take place in the client’s home or in another mutually agreed upon location.
Volunteer Training: 8-week free training provided.
