Presenter: TANYA HANNAH RUMBLE, CFRE (she/her) is a racialized settler who was born and raised in Halton. She is a respected fundraising leader who has raised millions for some of Canada's largest charities including Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, McMaster University, and now the Faculty of Arts and Yellowhead Institute at Ryerson University. Tanya has been involved in the voluntary sector for over 15 years and has led learning sessions and facilitated workshops for thousands of nonprofit professionals across North America and Europe on the topics of power and privilege; equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI); and donor and volunteer engagement. As a facilitator she cultivates vulnerability, openness and curiosity to her facilitation which creates an environment where folks can examine sensitive and challenging topics such as race, oppression, and privilege with non-judgement.

Workshop #1: Social Location and Systems of Oppression
WEDNESDAY September 15, 2021 12:00pm – 1:30pm
Overview: Each of us has a social location, a combination of factors including our gender, race, social class, age, ability, religion, sexual orientation, and geographic location. Social location is not always the same for any two individuals. In this session, participants will explore their social location, come away with an overview and understanding of the lexicon of words like: equity, diversity, inclusion, intersectionality, ally, and solidarity and will learn about how systems of oppression work.
Workshop #2: Power Sharing - Board and Leadership Volunteers
TUESDAY September 21, 2021 12:00pm – 1:30pm
Overview: There is power in being a member of the Board of Directors or holding a leadership position. This session will explore understanding and harnessing your power, holding power, and giving power, moving into interactive sessions on how to recognize and handle power sharing.
Workshop #3: Advancing Equity Through Volunteer Engagement
WEDNESDAY September 29, 2021 12:00pm – 1:30pm
Overview: This final session focused on leadership: leading on tough volunteer issues, creating recruitment practices that support inclusion, and addressing equity and fundraising. Participants will share their unlearnings on the road to becoming the leader you needed.
