Back by popular demand, this session will explore the rationales for evaluating programs and services, touch on the state of evaluation in the nonprofit sector and provide an overview of the major approaches to evaluation today.

This session is the first in a series of workshops focused on evaluation. They will be of interest to senior staff and board members concerned about or charged with, measuring the impact in their nonprofit organization or program.

Key learnings

Participants will come away with an understanding of:
• How evaluation can assist their nonprofits
• The language used by evaluators
• Insight into the focus of funders on evaluation and impact.

Facilitator

JODY ORR, of The Chrysalis Group has an extensive background in designing and carrying out evaluation in the human services sector. With a master’s degree in Sociology and founding principal in an organizational and community development consulting firm, Jody worked for 17 years in the nonprofit sector. Currently the embedded evaluator with the Centre for Innovation in Peer Support, her consulting work involves research and policy analysis.
