I am delighted share with you that Community Development Halton will be joined by a new team member. Heather Johnson will be with us as our new Director, Volunteer Halton starting Monday, May 3rd, 2021.  We are quite fortunate to welcome aboard a very accomplished professional who will be a natural in moving the work of Volunteer Halton the higher levels identified with our stakeholders through our recent review.

Heather has worked with a variety of organizations including health promotion, community and social services, associations, and volunteer centres. Amongst her many skills and accomplishments are the ability to develop, promote, and enhance volunteer programs, excellent facilitation and presentation skills, and – of greatest importance – the ability to work collaboratively with partners to effect growth for all.

In conversations with her I recall Heather mentioning that this position with Volunteer Halton is of great interest to her given the potential for positive impact on the local community and that having recently worked with Volunteer Toronto, she has been witness to the value volunteer centres have in bringing together organizations engaging volunteers and members of the community looking for meaningful civic engagement opportunities. “The opportunity to bring these recent experiences, along with my skills and experience in the volunteer engagement field, to Volunteer Halton and to guide Halton residents to become leaders serving their community is very exciting and motivating.”

Heather is a graduate of University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) with a degree in Communications and Digital Media Studies with Highest Distinction. She holds a certificate in Fundraising and Volunteer Management from George Brown College. In October 2020, she was granted the designation of Certified Volunteer Administrator (CVA).

To my delight … Heather is a very personable individual and has the ability work with and enjoy the company of those around her.

Heather can be reached via email at hejohnson@cdhalton.ca or by phone at 905-632-1975 ext. 2, or toll-free at 1-855-395-8807.

I am thrilled to welcome Heather Johnson to the Community Development Halton family.  I invite you to join me in welcoming her to our team.
