National Volunteer Week
Each year we dedicate a special time to honour citizens who volunteer their time and talents to worthy causes across our country, region and local community. Volunteers are on the front lines of all of our community services – community health care, heritage and arts, maintenance of green space, disaster relief, volunteer firefighting, minor sports – the list is endless.
We want to acknowledge the incredible efforts of volunteers across Halton and say THANK YOU! National Volunteer Week is when we can all take time to recognize volunteers and celebrate the power of volunteerism in our community.
2021 is the International Year of Volunteers
2021 is also a year to equip and position our sector for the next 20 years, as we restore, regroup, rethink, and renovate our space and place in society, as we all navigate the impact of the pandemic and take action on racism and social injustice.
International Volunteer Day
Volunteers, this is your moment! Celebrate International Volunteer Day (IVD) on December 5th!
IVD offers an opportunity for volunteer organizations and individual volunteers to make visible their contributions – at local, national and international levels. Over the years, rallies, parades, community volunteering projects, environmental awareness, free medical care and advocacy campaigns have all featured prominently on IVD. The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) is reminding people around the world of the difference that they can make.
