This report describes some of the community assets that individually or in partnership are focused on relieving food insecurity in Halton. The additional benefits of volunteerism, connection and community building make many of those programs and supports that much richer. These are wonderful responses of care for real need in community from community. The information provided can collectively drive better access to food supports through improved planning, advocating for increased funding for additional programs and locations. Efforts to advocate for policy change related to income for example, needs to be happening concurrently with our community’s efforts to address immediate food insecurity needs if our intent is to see real change related to food security.
