Story Curated by Takyrah Anderson

Tell us the name of the project or initiative you are involved with.

Halton Small Business Advisory Group Inc. or Business Advisory Group (BAG).

What have you most loved and appreciated about the community project/initiative that you are involved in?

For over 40 years, we’ve helped more than a thousand small businesses and volunteer groups, in the Halton Region, find solutions to business and management problems that are common to most groups.

Being a volunteer group ourselves, we would like to use our lived experience and skill sets to help other volunteer groups operate efficiently and overcome some of the challenges that they face on a daily basis,”

What is your project/initiative about and why is it so important to you?

We are a not-for-profit group of volunteers consisting of former business owners, professionals and company executives who are dedicated to sharing our experience and giving back to our community.

What is happening through the project/initiative that you would like to see more of?

Being a volunteer group ourselves, we would like to use our lived experience and skill sets to help other volunteer groups operate efficiently and overcome some of the challenges that they face on a daily basis.

“We would like the other volunteer-led and small nonprofit groups in Halton to be aware of who we are and the services we provide…”

What would you like to see happen next for the project/initiative?

We would very much like the opportunity to meet with or to make presentations to the members of Volunteer Halton to show how we can help them find solutions to problems they may be experiencing.

“BAG would be more than happy to attend any function that Volunteer Halton hosts or work with Volunteer Halton…”

What would you want or need from the community to make your next steps successful?

We would like the other volunteer-led and small nonprofit groups in Halton to be aware of who we are and the services we provide so that they understand how BAG can help them.

BAG would be more than happy to attend any function that Volunteer Halton hosts or work with Volunteer Halton to connect with other volunteer-led groups to explain our services and answer questions that they may have.

If all those good things happened, what could be made possible in our community that wasn’t possible before?

If other community volunteer groups and small nonprofits  knew about the support that we can provide they may find solutions to management problems such as staffing issues, growth or efficiency issues as well as many other common problems that volunteer groups and small businesses face.
